Portable radio made in Japan in 1958 - it incorporates the first generation of Sonys Silicon transistors - this is a Canadian Gendis version - it has 7 transistors and a metal air varco, as used in earlier radios - sound quality is very good but reception is somewhat noisy due to the silicon transistors -  MW - 4 'C' cells for 6V supply -

model TR 84

This is a very well known Sony from 1959, it has been very popular in the early 1960s. It has been an inspiration to many radio manufacturers an many (cheaper) copys of this famous radio came on the market. It has a 3 gang varco, giving the radio a 3 stage RF schematics. Brands like Archief, Hacosonic, Holyday, Browni, etc. have good working inspirations on the TR 84 brought on the market. (See my website). The TR84 is a very fine constructed radio with excelent sound and reception, it is one of the better radios in the transistor radio era. It takes 3 D cells of 1.5V for 4.5V supply. The reciever and the LF amp. can be seperated by two screws.

model TR 620

Famous and popular early pocket radio from 1960, it employs 6 Sony Germanium transistors.
