Transistor Amplifiers continued 7
Below a MC preamp of Jean Hiraga of 1980, a simple but genious idea to do the amplification of a moving coil pick up this way. Many designers had tried all kinds of designs with even 2200 uF capacitors at the input and UHF power transistors in class A configuration, but it was allways a worse solution compared to a transformer. Until the day of this idea of Hiraga.
Below a evaluation of the original design of Hiraga of 1988. This design has all the advantages of a modern well riped design but lacks some limitations of the basic Hiraga design. As far as I know this design was never published in this form, a very similar design was published in Elektor.
