Made in USA 1959/1960 - AM radio - 7 early oval transistors - high quality built - supply 9V - plays very well

Beautiful early USA radio of 1958/1959 with 6 first generation transistors. This radio plays very well.

Of the above radios are many types made. You could get the impression that the 3 radios above (4th is coming) are the same with different coloured cabinets. That is not the case: The most below radio is the oldest one with oval transistors and a big pcb inside. The radio in the middle is somewhat newer and the radio on top is the latest model with 3 sub-pcb's on the mail pcb. All radios employ 5 transistors. The green model has a dynamic speaker, the white and the black radio have needle-speakers.

Here another white version that is older that all 3 above !

AM-FM radio made in Hong Kong in 2nd half of 1960s, radio with traditional electronic design -

True 10 transistor AM radio made in USA - with the typical needle speaker derived from the speaker designs from the 1920s - this radio has therefore this poor and 'closed nose' sound, typical for this series of transistor radios - this radio has a double coil in the speaker attached to the OTL push pull output stage, some in this series have a single coil, coupled to an output transformer.

Same as above only this one has a haevier built case - True 10 transistor AM radio made in USA - with the typical needle speaker derived from the speaker designs from the 1920s - this radio has therefore this poor and 'closed nose' sound, typical for this series of transistor radios - this radio has a double coil in the speaker attached to the OTL push pull output stage, some in this series have a single coil, coupled to an output transformer.

This is a 7 transistor cheaper version of the 10 transitor radios above.

This is the 6 transistor version of the model above, it has 6 TI transistors and is cheaper made and has the single coil needle-speaker. Magnet materials were badly constructed by GE, so many of these radios suffer from pulverized speaker magnets.

Cheap GE made in Hong Kong in the1960s, with 6 transistors - it has a common electronic design and plays like the average cheap radio.

Nice 6 transistor radio.
